Who are the Gold Coast Derby Grrls?
Gold Coast Derby Grrls formed in 2007 and represents team members from across Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade counties.
We are a non-profit (501(c)4), Roller Derby league and are governed by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). We are nationally ranked and in 2011 were the first league ever to achieve initial WFTDA qualification and an invitation to the regional tournament all within the same year. As of January 2015, GCDG is ranked in the top percentage of Roller Derby teams worldwide.
We first hosted BEACH BRAWL with record-breaking success in 2014. Bringing this event to South Florida, we showcased some of the biggest names in this fast-growing international sport. We drew worldwide media coverage from as far as Berlin, Germany and popular local coverage such as Deco Drive. With 5,000+ Facebook fans and 24,000+ live views totaling 8,000+ hours watched in a span of 3 days, Beach Brawl proved to be a popular event.
